The Process for creating your website:
We keep you involved from day one during the website design process.
To summarize the basic steps:-
- Website Design Needs Analysis is the key first stage. For simpler,
static sites this can be achieved at an initial meeting or even via email and telephone.
For more complex needs, we have a detailed questionnaire which we will work through with you
prior to providing cost and timescale figures. This give a precise profile of your web
requirements before moving forward to the design phase.
We also identify your web hosting requirements at this point, including securing
your domain name, ongoing design maintenance, technical support and email needs.
- An initial design template is then created. Again, we discuss this with you and refine it until you are comfortable with the proposed design.
- The web site pages are then constructed in a secure online directory. We give you online access to allow you to give us feedback on the web site’s design and construction as it evolves.
- Once completed, you review the site and request any minor changes and alterations.
- When you’re completely satisfied with everything, the webpages are installed into
your web hosting account and all formatting and functionality is tested.
- Finally, we push the button and your website design goes live!
- Immediately your website is online, we submit it to Google and other major search engines,
and set up a Google Account online to enable you to view
detailed site statistics using Google Analytics.
The following is the information we need from you:
- What is your message? In this section you should ask yourself what you want to say on your site.
- Who are you targeting?
Who is your audience?
Who would use your site?
Why would they come to your site?
- What is the budget available in your organization for web development?
How much for setup and how much for maintenance?
What are the ways that you could get funding for your website?
Do you know what type of website you can afford (large-scale database type, or online brochure type?)
- How can you present your point of view effectively?
What kind of voice is appropriate for your audience?
What kind of content will be available?
What are your featured categories?
Should your site be consistent with other collateral materials in your organization?
Do you have several other sites that you want to emulate?
- What will your website accomplish?
Will your website be a research or a development tool?
What would your site's main use be? How will it improve what you do have?
What will be the benefits of online exposure?
What will it bring you that you don't already have?
- Can you do it in-house? How will you reassign staff duties to provide for ongoing maintenance and updating?
If not in-house, do you know whether you would like an individual consultant or a web design firm?
- Find other websites out on the web that you think are well built and match what you are looking to do. We can
start with that type of format or look and create a foundation we can build off of.
- The organization of the information you want on your website is key.
We will need to determine the layout or sitemap of your website in order to create the first prototype.
